Advantage of skill above 12? Auras?
A couple questions not answered by the excellent guides on this site:
1) I see it is possible to raise attributes far above 12 with items; yet power damages are listed in a finite range that I assume equates to rank 1-12. So, if I hit myself for -75 health with a rune for +3 to an attribute, will my 10-120 damage skill do 150 damage or do I get nothing? 2) Do the auras that come with the collector's edition take up an inventory space that will eventually be filled with a superior item, or are they a tangible advantage at level 20? |

I think if you get an attribute to 14 it costs less energy to cast... But I'm not sure.

You don't happen to be Elfis in WoW also? On the Frostwolf server? Regardless, I don't think that the auras give any stat bonuses. From what I read it just made you look pretty.

I haven't actually used my characters named Elfis heh. I have gnomes on Kil'Jaeden but have mostly been playing city of heroes for the past month.

If you level an attribute past 12, it works the same way as leveling it 1-12.
Example: At level 11, a skill might do 100 damage. If you raise it to 12, it will now do 110. If you use a rune or headpiece to modify the level of the attribute to 13, it will do 120 damage now. At 14, 130 damage and so on. Note that this is not a real skill. |

WAIT!! it's not true!! Completely at least.
For weapon skills (Axe mastery etc...) once you get past 12 the benefit for each new level drop sharply. It's in one of the guides. I think it's the Combat Mechanics guide which i'll link. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...nics-id674.php ^-- long and complicated, but I love it. |

I think after twelve the effects might go less, ok lvl 11(100 dmg) lvl 12 (110)
lvl 13 (119) lvl 14 (127)etc.... |

Aye I did read that guide; very good guide. Diminishing returns on most weapons damage; no benefit to wands; it was just unclear about skills. I'm glad skills at least don't have an arbitrary cap.

You can only raise your attribute to 12 using attribute points, it can reach 16 with +3 rune and +1 hat. For spells the progression is linear.
For weapon skills the progression is linear until 12 and then it sharply declines in effectiveness. http://www.gwunderground.com/www/ind...ion=sb&p=1&s=2 A complicated, but really cool tool once you figure it out. You can pump up your skills and see exactly how much damage(or duration) spells will do(have) each level. I found is really useful. |
